A Perfect Storm boat outing

Our friend Kipper was going to let us borrow his pontoon boat for our vacation but it ended up not running so we had to go Saturday and drive to mom's house and bring their boat back by water. Cindy, Lloyd, Ethan and I set off from mom's to gray skies but nothing bad looking until we turned the curve at Southwest point and the sky started looking darker the farther we went. I was driving the boat and then decided to let LLoyd take over so I could enjoy myself. All of the sudden the wind started to pick up and it started white capping. I was getting nervous at that point. Then we saw this curtain of rain heading toward us and braced ourselves to get wet. That turned out to be a 30 second rain shower. We all laughed about that and hoped that would be all we would have to go thru.
Information note-
When I say we headed out for a boat ride I'm not talking about a 15-20 minute ride from mom's to Hornsby. It honestly takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get from point A to point B. That is going wide open and no stopping.
Back to the story-
Well, about 20 minutes later it got really dark and we could see lightning in the distance, boats were passing us going the opposite direction, people putting on life jackets. I started to get really nervous then. Then it started to rain, then it started really thundering and lightning all around us. Then it started to monsoon! Waves crashing down on the boat pouring rain flying every direction it could blow. Cindy pushes Ethan in the potty room on the boat. The room is only about a 3' x 3' cubby hole when it is not extended up. Ethan is crying and screaming, Lloyd is asking me what he should do (like I'm some experienced boat captain), I'm sitting there covered up by a towel praying for my Blessed Lord and Savior to save us from a horrible death and praying non-stop mind you! Cindy would raise her head up from trying to console Ethan and look at me for re-assurance and all I could do was give her a look of fear. Lloyd was having to hold has hand over his mouth to be able to breath because the rain was blowing right at us. After what seemed like an eternity the storm let up for about a minute and Ethan sticks his head out of the cubby hole he was in and looks to see what was going on and he looks at the water and see this piece of drift wood floating in the watyer and screams "Oh shit! It's an alligator!" and climbs back in his hole. Then we went back into storm mode and rode up and down crashing waves, at times there was about 4 inches of water rolling to the back of the boat and Ethan was screaming that we were taking on water. I can honestly say that I thought we might die. Had Lloyd not been on that boat with me and Cindy navigating that boat up and down those waves we probably would have. He said that his wrists were hurting so bad from trying to stear the boat into the waves. His fingers were even wrinkled like raisens from all the water.
When we finaly got to our camp site the storm had ripped thru there and broke one of the windows on my camper and broke my canopy.
Attached is a picture of what we think we looked like in the storm.
