Carol had a heart attack possibly on Monday could have been one day last week while she was on vacation. She is in ICU at harriman Hospital, room 412. She is doing much better now but is still very week. Here is what Sarah found out from the doctor-
Mom is still in ICU at Harriman Hospital but is breathing much better. Her color is better also. She actually has some! Beverly and Dr. Tedder were both able to take one look at her and tell she was in serious trouble. She had a lot of fluid in and around her heart and lungs and once this was relieved she was able to breath much better. Much better means she can complete a full sentence without stopping to get her breath. She is still exhausted by simply sitting up on the side of the bed and eating her meal. We get to visit every 2 hours for 30 minutes and though we try very hard not to ask too many questions and just "be there" she still gets tired on us. She will not be able to work again anytime soon, if ever. Daddy says that is just fine with him.
The cardiologist came to see Mom a little while ago and this is what we know from that conversation.
1. Mom is in CHF and a fib and will have this as an ongoing problem. CHF is Congestive Heart Failure and AF is the abnormal rhythm her heart is in. She has probably sustained some heart damage but he will not be able to tell that for up to two months. He still has fluid around her heart and in her lungs(CHF) despite having pulled off over 7 liters at this time.
2. He is starting her on coumadin tonight. This is a blood thinner and she will be on this forever. She will remain hospitalized for this as if she were to have a clot in her heart, it will break up with the coumadin and be pushed into her body causing her to have a stroke. She will also be on medication to control her heart rate and rhythm and prevent fluid retension from now on also.
3. She is getting IV Cardizem and Digitalis and these are bringing her heart rate down to 80-120 and as long as it stays within this range they will not shock her until she has had more healing time. She will be scheduled to have her heart shocked back into a normal sinus rhythm after her heart gets to rest a little longer. This will be after she is released from the hospital. There is no gaurantee that she will remain in normal rhythm and is expected to convert back into a fib and need cardioversion again. The difference will be that she (and we) will all be watching for any signs that her heart is messing up again.
4. Just flat do not know when they will feel comfortable letting her come home but she will be there through tomorrow. She is a one day at a time patient. When she does get to come home, she will have to take it easy from now on.

Mrs. Adams
Please put Mrs. Adams (Jos's mother)on your prayer list. She was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer last week. They doctors gave her 3-6 months to live. It was so far along that there was nothing they could do.
Jos and family will be going over on the 31st to visit with her and then will go back again when the time draws near the end.

I HAVE SKIN CANCER!!!
SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA
This is what was in my hair line on my forehead. It was probably comparable in size to the one in the picture. The doctor sliced it off this morning and then scooped it out a little bit and told me I would more than likely be back next week to get it scooped out a lot more to be sure and remove all the cancerous cells so that it doesn't spread. If I had not got this spot treated it would have killed/ eaten the flesh aound it. GROSS! I will also have to start wearing 30 SPF sunscreen all the time now. boo-hoo! bye-bye sun kissed skin. I love to have a good tan and now I'm going to have to join the "Whitest White Girl Club".

My precious, darling, wonderful, terd head son!
Well, as some of you know. Jonathan had a job at Kroger. Because that is where he wanted to work, because it wasn't so demeaning to him. Well, he lasted there about 2 weeks maybe three. Well, so he starts complaining a week before we go camping that he stays bored at work and isn't liking it very much and that this boy at church said they he could get him a job working at Taco Bell making $7 an hour. So I told him that if he wanted to work at Taco Bell that it was fine by me but he couldn't quit Kroger until the other job came thru for him.
Thursday that we are to go camping-
I call one of my buddies and ask her if Jonathan needed to come and mow her yard and she said yes and then she asks me about what Jonathan is going to do about money now that he doesn't have a job anymore. Excuse me!, I say. I tell her he still has a job he is just wanting to find a different one. She says, No, he told me Monday that he had quit on Sunday, the day before. Now mind you- he had went to work on Monday, Tuesday, even had to stay an hour late on Tuesday, and went to work on Wednesday and was going to be off on Thursday. The more I thought about it the madder I got and so I called James and told him to find out what was going on. In the mean time I called Kroger and found out that- in deed, Jonathan had quit Kroger on Sunday in the middle of his shift. KABOOM! I was ready to kill! Where in the crap had he been those days he left for work? Well, I call James back after I got tired of waiting on him to call me back and unload on him and tell him he better kill him before I get to the camper because I was over this BS. So, supposedly he took care of it and told him he had to start at McDonald's as soon as we got back from camping.
Monday the 7th-
I told Jonathan he had to go out and find a job or else that day. So he does just that. He is now working for Bunch Marine washing boats and doing all their weed eating. When I got home last night he was dead on the couch and I made him get up and go to his baseball camp only after resting for 25 minutes.
I have no mercy for him. He said last night it was a lot different than Kroger and I said well that is what you said you wanted something more laboring.
When will he ever learn? Why is he so stupid? Does he need counseling or do I?

A Perfect Storm boat outing

Our friend Kipper was going to let us borrow his pontoon boat for our vacation but it ended up not running so we had to go Saturday and drive to mom's house and bring their boat back by water. Cindy, Lloyd, Ethan and I set off from mom's to gray skies but nothing bad looking until we turned the curve at Southwest point and the sky started looking darker the farther we went. I was driving the boat and then decided to let LLoyd take over so I could enjoy myself. All of the sudden the wind started to pick up and it started white capping. I was getting nervous at that point. Then we saw this curtain of rain heading toward us and braced ourselves to get wet. That turned out to be a 30 second rain shower. We all laughed about that and hoped that would be all we would have to go thru.
Information note-
When I say we headed out for a boat ride I'm not talking about a 15-20 minute ride from mom's to Hornsby. It honestly takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get from point A to point B. That is going wide open and no stopping.
Back to the story-
Well, about 20 minutes later it got really dark and we could see lightning in the distance, boats were passing us going the opposite direction, people putting on life jackets. I started to get really nervous then. Then it started to rain, then it started really thundering and lightning all around us. Then it started to monsoon! Waves crashing down on the boat pouring rain flying every direction it could blow. Cindy pushes Ethan in the potty room on the boat. The room is only about a 3' x 3' cubby hole when it is not extended up. Ethan is crying and screaming, Lloyd is asking me what he should do (like I'm some experienced boat captain), I'm sitting there covered up by a towel praying for my Blessed Lord and Savior to save us from a horrible death and praying non-stop mind you! Cindy would raise her head up from trying to console Ethan and look at me for re-assurance and all I could do was give her a look of fear. Lloyd was having to hold has hand over his mouth to be able to breath because the rain was blowing right at us. After what seemed like an eternity the storm let up for about a minute and Ethan sticks his head out of the cubby hole he was in and looks to see what was going on and he looks at the water and see this piece of drift wood floating in the watyer and screams "Oh shit! It's an alligator!" and climbs back in his hole. Then we went back into storm mode and rode up and down crashing waves, at times there was about 4 inches of water rolling to the back of the boat and Ethan was screaming that we were taking on water. I can honestly say that I thought we might die. Had Lloyd not been on that boat with me and Cindy navigating that boat up and down those waves we probably would have. He said that his wrists were hurting so bad from trying to stear the boat into the waves. His fingers were even wrinkled like raisens from all the water.
When we finaly got to our camp site the storm had ripped thru there and broke one of the windows on my camper and broke my canopy.
Attached is a picture of what we think we looked like in the storm.

A camping vacation
We left for our annual camping vacation on Wednesday, June 25. We stayed 11 nights at Hornsby Hollow camp ground. We got our camp set up and James went to work that night and ther kids and I stayed in the camper. I got up and went to work on Thursday and James got back there that morning about 9 am. They all layed around and swam and fished. Once I got off from work and got down there about 5:30, vacation finally got started! We stayed up kind of late the first night and got up early the next morning and made breakfast.
Our days consisted of- get up when we got up, usually around 9 am. Make a big late breakfast of biscuits, gravy, eggs, bacon or sausage. We even had pancakes and french toast some mornings. We snacked for lunch and had giant size dinners. When we go camping we cook just like we were at home. Here is a listing of our dinners:
Steak, salad, veggies
Hot dogs and chili, slaw
Roast, potatoes and carrots
Spaghetti and bread
Hamburgers
Buddy's BBQ and fixings
Goulash, fried potatoes, slaw
We went out to dinner 4 of the nights. We ate at the River Road Market and Mr. Twisters. If you have never went to Meigs county it is well worth the drive to eat at these 2 places! They are right on the main drag on River road. Mr.Twisters is a diner so to say with delicious ice cream. The River Road Market has home made pizza and great sub sandwiches.
A few highlights from the trip are:
Laying in the sun every day
Having great weather for 95% of the time
Not getting sun burned just a little pink then to brown
Ethan learning to ride his bicycle
I will post some pictures later today or tomrrow. I will also be posting some more on the trip.
